Ghana’s Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has announced the activation of an extensive contingency plan to guarantee uninterrupted air traffic operations across the Accra Flight Information Region (FIR) as aviation electronics workers prepare for an indefinite nationwide strike.
In a statement issued Wednesday, the GCAA assured airlines, aviation stakeholders, and travelers that “comprehensive contingency measures” have been implemented to safeguard the safety, reliability, and security of air navigation services despite the impending industrial action by members of the Ghana Air Traffic Safety Electronics Association (GhATSEA).
The Authority said it has deployed a CNS/ATM Systems Contingency Plan, detailing operational procedures, designated response teams, and coordination frameworks to ensure both domestic and international flight operations continue without disruption.
The announcement follows GhATSEA’s declaration of an indefinite strike beginning Thursday, October 30, in protest over what it describes as poor working conditions and management inaction regarding staff welfare.
