The Ghanaian government has deployed a special jet to South Africa carrying the remains of the eight victims of Wednesday’s military helicopter crash in Adansi, Ashanti Region, for forensic examination.
Among the deceased are Defence Minister Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with six others who perished in the incident.
Due to the severity of the burns sustained in the crash, DNA testing has been deemed necessary for accurate identification, as most of the bodies were burned beyond recognition.
A forensic officer from Ghana’s Criminal Investigation Department is accompanying the remains, while a delegation of ministers and Members of Parliament was present at Kotoka International Airport to supervise the departure.
The jet is expected to arrive in South Africa on Thursday night to commence the forensic process.
