Ghana Strengthens Economic Diplomacy with Morocco in Strategic Sectors

Ghana is stepping up its diplomatic engagement with Morocco as part of broader efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and enhance partnerships.

Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, Chairman of Ghana’s Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to Morocco’s capital, Rabat, to explore avenues for enhanced collaboration.

During the visit, Mr Vanderpuije met with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

Ghana’s Ambassador to Morocco, Charity Gbedawo, was also present at the meeting, which underscored the importance both countries place on parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for deepening bilateral ties.

Speaking after the meeting, Mr Vanderpuije highlighted the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Morocco, which dates back to 1961, and is founded on shared values of development, unity, and South-South cooperation. He noted that the visit aims to foster stronger legislative partnerships and support ongoing efforts to promote economic and political collaboration across the West African subregion.

The delegation’s visit includes several engagements with Moroccan officials, focusing on governance, trade, education, and institutional partnerships.
