Ghana Urges Swift Global Action on Climate Change in Urgent Appeal at COP30

Ghana’s Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has urged world leaders to take swift and decisive action to confront the escalating climate crisis, warning that climate change is “gradually changing the world order.”

Speaking on Monday, November 10, 2025, at the COP30 Climate Conference in Brazil, Buah said rising sea levels, erratic weather patterns, and prolonged droughts are pushing vulnerable populations to the edge, particularly in regions that have contributed the least to global emissions.

He emphasized that African nations, including Ghana, remain among the lowest emitters yet face the most severe consequences of climate disruption.

Buah stressed on the impact of extreme weather conditions such as rainfall instability, unprecedented floods, heatwaves, and droughts that crack the earth, noting that the continent is on the frontline bearing the heaviest impact.

He warned that these climate shocks have become direct threats to food security, public health, and livelihoods across the continent.

The Minister called for renewed global commitment, stronger climate finance mechanisms, and accelerated emissions reductions to safeguard the world’s most affected regions.
