Assimi Goïta, President of the Transition in Mali, said in a national address that the coordinated attacks of April 25 were part of a wider destabilisation plan involving “internal and external sponsors.”
Speaking from the Koulouba Palace, he stated that the situation is now “under control” following the offensives that targeted several cities including Bamako, Kati, Gao, Kidal, Mopti and Konna.
Goïta praised the response of the armed forces, saying they inflicted heavy losses on the attackers, while ongoing security and intelligence operations continue across affected areas.
He also paid tribute to Defence Minister Sadio Camara, describing his death as a major loss for the nation.
The president called for national unity, warning against disinformation and urging citizens to support the military and remain vigilant.
He reaffirmed Mali’s commitment to its sovereignty path and highlighted cooperation within the Confederation of Sahel States and with international partners.
Meanwhile, armed groups including Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin and the Front for the Liberation of Azawad have claimed responsibility for parts of the coordinated attacks.
