Guinea Suspends Merchant Navy Leaders Over Misconduct Allegations

The Guinean government has suspended the National Director of the Merchant Navy, Paul Moussa Diawara, and his deputy, Aly Nabé, citing gross misconduct.

The decision, announced by Transport Minister Ousmane Gaoual Diallo, takes immediate effect and will remain in force until further notice.

While the official documents did not detail the nature of the misconduct, they referenced regulations governing civil service and the conduct of public officials.

To maintain operations, Mamoudou Keïta, an advisor in charge of land and maritime transport, has been appointed as interim National Director.

The Ministry’s Secretary General and General Inspectorate have been tasked with ensuring the decision’s implementation and publication.

The minister also informed the Guinean Association of Maritime Consignees (AGUICOM) of the changes, highlighting the need for transparency within the maritime sector.
