Ghana’s former President John Mahama has voiced optimism that the country will soon elect its first female head of state, signaling a significant milestone in national leadership.
Speaking at the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women in Beijing, China, hosted by President Xi Jinping in collaboration with UN Women, Mahama expressed confidence that Ghanaian women will soon “break the glass ceiling.”
Marking 30 years since the Beijing Declaration on gender equality, the event brought together world leaders to assess global progress.
He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to empowering women and promoting gender parity across institutions, emphasizing that the advancement of women into leadership roles is a deliberate and strategic step toward achieving true equality in governance.
