Mali Intensifies Fight Against Drug Trafficking with Major Seizure in Bamako

Mali’s ongoing fight against drug trafficking has led to a major drug bust in Dabanani, a neighborhood in Bamako known for illicit trade.

The Malian National Police Narcotics Brigade carried out a large-scale operation on Wednesday, resulting in the arrest of 11 suspected drug traffickers.

Authorities seized significant quantities of cannabis, Tramaking, packs of hashish, and counterfeit notes worth 2,035,000 FCFA. Additionally, a sum of 1,750,000 FCFA, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, was confiscated.

Other seized items included a revolver, a large batch of unauthorized pharmaceutical products, four mobile phones, three sewing machines, and 21 motorcycles.

This coordinated operation, authorized by the General Directorate of Police and executed in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of the National Police, involved several specialized units, including the National Gendarmerie, the National Guard, and Civil Protection.

According to Chief Police Inspector Daouda Diarra, Deputy Regional Director of the Bamako Police, the operation was a strategic effort to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in the capital.
