Thousands of Muslim faithful gathered at the Amadou Hampâté Bâ Palace of Culture in Bamako on June 20 for a day of prayer and reflection organized by the High Islamic Council of Mali. Held under the theme of faith, dialogue, solidarity, and national unity, the event brought together religious leaders, government officials, and worshippers to promote social cohesion and peaceful coexistence in a country facing persistent security and humanitarian challenges.
The gathering was attended by Minister of State for Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion, Ismaël Wagué, and Minister of Religious Affairs, Mahamadou Koné. Organizers said the initiative sought to encourage dialogue, rebuild trust among communities, and reinforce the role of religious leaders in conflict prevention and mediation. Authorities also reiterated their commitment to freedom of worship while stressing the need to combat violent extremism and preserve national unity amid ongoing insecurity and displacement across the country.
