Mali has approved the ratification of 83.4 billion CFA francs in funding from the International Development Association to support the continuity of essential health and education services amid severe budget pressures.
The decision was taken during a Council of Ministers meeting in Bamako on April 8, 2026, following the signing of the financing agreement earlier in the month.
The funds will help maintain free healthcare for women and young children, ensure the supply of medicines and vaccines, and support school operations in crisis-affected areas.
Authorities say the programme will benefit over 2 million people in the health sector and around 1.1 million students, as Mali continues to face growing humanitarian needs linked to insecurity and displacement.
