Ministry of National Education of Senegal Probes Unauthorized Cash Distribution in Schools

The Ministry of National Education of Senegal has raised alarm over what it described as a serious security breach in the Pikine-Guédiawaye academy, where a man claiming to be a “Kuwaiti billionaire” allegedly handed out 5,000 CFA franc notes to students in several public, private, and daara schools without official approval.

In a statement signed by Director of Training and Communication Daouda Gueye, the ministry characterized the incident as extremely grave, warning that such unauthorized access poses a direct risk to the safety and well-being of learners.

Authorities swiftly responded after being alerted, with the Prefect of Guédiawaye ordering immediate security measures to track down and apprehend the individual.

School administrators across public, private, and religious institutions have been instructed not to entertain visitors conducting similar activities without prior authorization and to promptly report any suspicious approaches.

The ministry reiterated that all external interventions in schools are strictly regulated to protect students and preserve the integrity of the educational environment, urging parents and the wider community to remain vigilant and cooperate with security services.
