Niger and Senegal Strengthen Diplomatic and Economic Ties Ahead of Invest in Senegal Forum

Niger’s Prime Minister, Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, has arrived in Dakar to meet his Senegalese counterpart, Ousmane Sonko, ahead of the Invest in Senegal Forum (FII Senegal) 2025, scheduled for October 7–8 at the CICAD conference center in Diamniadio.

The visit marks another step in the gradual diplomatic rapprochement between Niger and Senegal, which began in May 2025 with the mission of Senegal’s Minister of the Armed Forces, General Birame Diop, and has been bolstered by the active engagement of Senegal’s Ambassador to Niger, Mouhamadou Sarr.

Organized by the Senegalese Agency for the Promotion of Investments and Major Projects (APIX) under the patronage of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, the forum seeks to position Dakar as a major investment hub in West Africa.

Talks between Zeine and Sonko centered on enhancing bilateral cooperation and exploring new investment opportunities ahead of the event, which is expected to attract key international investors and foster strategic partnerships for regional development.
