At least 30 bandits were killed in coordinated counter-operations by Nigerian security forces in the Faskari district of Katsina State, following simultaneous attacks on the communities of Kadisau, Raudama, and Sabon Layi.
According to the state’s Commissioner for Internal Security, Nasir Mua’zu, the operation involved the army, police, and air force, who repelled hundreds of armed attackers late Tuesday and neutralised dozens through targeted air strikes as they attempted to flee.
The clashes left five security personnel and one civilian dead, while another civilian is receiving treatment for injuries.
The region has long struggled with violent armed groups, commonly referred to as bandits, who have terrorised communities across northwest Nigeria through kidnappings, killings, and attacks on travelers and farmers.
