The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a cache of 942 explosives concealed in a commercial vehicle along the Kaduna–Zaria expressway in Northern Nigeria.
The suspect, Nura Sani Muhammad (also known as Nura Hariji), was reportedly traveling from Nasarawa State en route to Zamfara State when he was apprehended.
This arrest represents a major breakthrough in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and illicit activities, particularly in the troubled northern region.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives also seized a massive consignment of opioids, including 3.5 million pills and 163,000 bottles of codeine syrup, valued at approximately ₦3.4 billion. These seizures were made in coordinated raids across Port Harcourt and Lagos.
Additionally, at the import shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Ikeja, Lagos, NDLEA agents intercepted 42 parcels of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.
Weighing a total of 20kg, the drugs were cleverly concealed in tins labeled as chocolate, Milo, white kidney beans, and red kidney beans.
The illicit cargo had arrived aboard a British Airways flight from Canada. Three suspects, including the recipient of the consignment, were arrested in connection with the discovery.
