More than 200 members of the terrorist group Boko Haram, including forcibly recruited fighters and their families, have surrendered to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in Bol, located in the Lake Chad region.
The surrender of 210 individuals in the Baga Sola area follows intensified military operations and psychological campaigns led by Sector 2 of Operation Lake Chad.
Ten firearms of various calibers were also recovered during the operation.
The ex-combatants confessed to participating in multiple attacks across Bakatolerom, Barkalam, Litri, and Kaiga Ngbouboun.
MNJTF officials described the mass surrender as a major blow to the terrorist group. Sector 2 Commander Major General Moussa Haussa commended the troops for their professionalism and confirmed that the former fighters will be treated with dignity and enrolled in a deradicalization program.
The Governor of the Lake region, Brigadier General Saleh Haggar Tidjani, who was present at the scene, announced that training and reintegration programs will soon be launched to support their transition back to civilian life.
The MNJTF emphasized that this development signals the growing success of its dual approach combining military pressure with rehabilitation efforts.
