Senegalese authorities have intercepted 643 kilograms of cocaine in the Noflaye district of Rufisque, marking a significant breakthrough in the country’s fight against international drug trafficking.
The seizure was carried out during a joint operation on August 4, 2025, by the Sangalkam Territorial Gendarmerie Brigade and the Dakar-Exterior Customs Subdivision, following intelligence about sophisticated trafficking activity.
The operation, launched at dawn, led to the arrest of one suspect while two others fled. Authorities discovered the drugs—each kilogram packed in jute bags—inside a suspicious vehicle, with tests confirming the substance as cocaine.
This seizure follows an earlier major bust in November 2024, when 235 kilograms of pure cocaine were found in a vehicle in Kaffrine.
These operations are part of a broader crackdown along the Dakar-Kidira corridor, where more than 2,100 kilograms of cocaine were seized between March and November 2024.
The Customs Administration and National Gendarmerie have pledged to deepen collaboration and called on citizens to support security forces through timely information sharing to combat transnational organized crime.
