Stakeholders Launch Campaign Against Extremist Attacks on Women in Côte d’Ivoire

Stakeholders in Abidjan have launched a campaign aimed at strengthening women’s roles in preventing and combating terrorism through research, training, and collaboration.

The initiative, organized by the Strategic Research Institute (IRS) of the International Academy for Counter-Terrorism (AILCT) in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), brings together researchers, experts, government officials, and members of civil society and NGOs.

The goal is to deepen discussions and actions regarding women’s involvement in counter-terrorism efforts.

Brigadier General Kouamé Joseph Alla, Director General of AILCT, emphasized the need for practical solutions that can be integrated into training programs to enhance women’s capacity in this field. He highlighted the importance of adopting a gender-inclusive approach to tackling extremism.

Other stakeholders echoed similar sentiments under the event’s theme: “Women and Extremist Violence in Africa: How to Strengthen Their Role in Prevention and Counter-Terrorism?”. It is expected that the seminar’s outcomes will contribute to a better understanding of terrorism, radicalization, and prevention strategies while reinforcing the crucial role women play in these efforts.
