The government of Niger has secured 14 billion FCFA in funding from Switzerland to support initiatives in education, small-scale irrigation, and agricultural entrepreneurship.
The financing agreements were signed on September 16, 2025, in Niamey by Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, and Swiss Ambassador Patrick Egloff, following a meeting with President General Abdourahamane Tiani.
Switzerland, which has maintained a cooperation office in Niamey since 1978, reaffirmed its long-standing commitment to Niger’s development priorities through this new package.
The support is expected to strengthen professional training, food security, and resilience in the face of socio-economic challenges, while consolidating bilateral relations between the two countries.
