TLP-Guinea Campaign Rekindles Calls for Truth Over Enforced Disappearances

International attention is growing around the cases of Guinean activists Oumar Sylla (known as Foniké Menguè) and Mamadou Billo Bah, as civil society groups intensify calls for accountability and answers for families of the disappeared.

The organization Turn the Page Guinea (TLP-Guinea) says its ongoing “40 days for the truth” campaign has reached more than seven million people, reflecting strong public pressure for justice in cases of enforced disappearances reported since July 2024.

TLP-Guinea warns that the absence of judicial clarity is deepening mistrust in institutions and undermining prospects for national reconciliation under the authorities led by Mamadi Doumbouya.

The group is also preparing an international roundtable in Dakar on July 9 to address what it describes as an “epidemic of enforced disappearances” in Guinea, bringing together civil society actors and international partners.

It has renewed its call for the authorities to clarify the fate of the missing and ensure justice for affected families, while urging continued international attention to the human rights situation in the country.
