Turkey Supports Modernization of Gambian Police International Affairs Unit

The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency has upgraded the International Affairs Unit of the Gambia Police Force as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security cooperation between Turkey and The Gambia.

According to a statement issued by TİKA, the project is designed to enhance the unit’s operational capacity and improve its ability to coordinate bilateral cooperation and training programs between the two countries.

The unit also plays a key role in providing Turkish language instruction and preparing Gambian police officers for university and postgraduate studies in Turkey.

Under the initiative, TİKA supplied the unit with computer equipment, office furniture, workstations, and other essential administrative materials aimed at improving its working environment and institutional efficiency.

The agency said the support would contribute to strengthening the technical capabilities and long-term sustainability of the strategic center, which serves as a focal point for security cooperation and capacity-building programs.

The project reflects the growing partnership between Ankara and Banjul in areas of security, education, and institutional development.
