Twenty-Four Kidnapped Schoolgirls Freed in North-West Nigeria After Security Operation

The Kebbi State Government has confirmed the release of 24 schoolgirls abducted from Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, located in the Danko-Wasagu district of north-western Nigeria.

The confirmation was issued by Governor Nasir Idris, who stated that no ransom was paid by either state or federal authorities to secure their freedom.

According to the governor, the rescue was carried out solely by Nigeria’s security agencies, who led the operation that brought the girls back safely. He added that the students will be formally reunited with their families on Wednesday.

Governor Idris also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his concern and for directing security agencies to prioritise the recovery effort.

News of the release was first communicated by the Presidency through a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy.
