Senior U.S. Air Force officials have commended Dakar’s key role in supporting America’s air operations in Africa, recognizing it as a critical strategic point in the region.
Speaking at the African Air Chiefs of Staff Symposium 2025, Gen. James B. Hecker, commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA), highlighted Dakar’s significance in the U.S. air strategy while also noting other strategic locations across the continent.
Gen. Hecker reaffirmed the U.S. commitment to collaboration, emphasizing the need to utilize these strategic points positively for the benefit of Africa’s security and development.
The high-level discussions also explored new opportunities to strengthen U.S. air presence in West Africa.
