Less than three weeks before the presidential election in Benin, opposition party Les Démocrates has announced it will not issue any voting instructions to its supporters.
The decision follows the rejection of its candidate Renaud Agbodjo due to insufficient endorsements, leaving the party without official representation in the race.
Founded by former president Thomas Boni Yayi and now led by Nourénou Atchadé, the party is also facing internal tensions and resignations.
While urging members to participate in the vote, it has left them free to choose their preferred candidate.
The April 12 election will feature two validated tickets: Romuald Wadagni with Mariam Chabi Talata, and Paul Hounkpè with Judicaël Hounwanou.
