Ghana’s President John Mahama is participating in the African Union Conference on Public Debt Management, which is being held from May 12 to 14 in Lomé, the capital of Togo.
The meeting brings together African leaders to discuss strategies aimed at restoring and preserving debt sustainability across the continent.
President Mahama was welcomed at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport by Togolese officials, including government ministers, parliamentarians, mayors, and traditional chiefs from Greater Lomé.
The conference, held under the theme “The African Agenda for Public Debt Management: Restoring and Preserving Debt Sustainability,” serves as a vital platform for shaping policies that will strengthen the financial health of African nations.
It focuses on long-term solutions to the continent’s mounting debt challenges, which are increasingly threatening economic stability.
Togo’s Minister of Territorial Administration, Hodabalo Awate, emphasized the significance of the gathering in placing Lomé at the center of Africa’s economic policy dialogue.
