Ghana’s President Mahama Urges UN to Confront Gaza Crisis Head-On

Ghana’s President John Mahama has called on the international community to speak plainly about the crisis in Gaza, stressing that crimes against Palestinians must end.

Addressing the UN General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, he criticised efforts to soften the situation with euphemisms.

“For nearly two years, for fear of reprisal, we here in this General Assembly have been playing hide-and-seek with language to avoid or excuse what we all know is happening,” Mahama said, adding, “The crimes in Gaza must stop.

” He reaffirmed Ghana’s support for a two-state solution, insisting it would not reward Hamas but bring relief to innocent civilians facing “collective punishment and forced starvation.”

Mahama also condemned the recent denial of visas to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and his delegation, describing it as a “bad precedent” that undermines the UN’s mandate.
