Guinea’s Press Union Reports 70 Attacks on Media Freedom in 2024

The Guinean Press Professionals Union (SPPG) has documented at least 70 violations of press freedom in 2024, highlighting growing concerns over media restrictions in the country.

In its annual report released on Tuesday, the union detailed judicial and administrative abuses targeting journalists, including arrests, censorship, and intimidation.

The findings have raised alarms among media watchdogs and civil society groups, who warn that press freedom is under increasing threat.

The SPPG has called on authorities to uphold journalists’ rights and ensure a free and independent press in Guinea.
