Niger and Morocco have signed a memorandum of understanding in Montreal to boost technical cooperation in the civil aviation sector during the 42nd assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The agreement, endorsed by transport ministers Abdessamad Kayouh of Morocco and Amadou Abdourahamane of Niger, outlines collaboration between Morocco’s General Directorate of Civil Aviation and Niger’s National Civil Aviation Agency.
It focuses on aviation safety, training programs, and the exchange of expertise to strengthen both nations’ capacities in ensuring safe and secure air transport.
The partnership also aims to reinforce Africa’s role in international civil aviation and aligns with Morocco’s vision of becoming a regional hub connecting Africa to the world.
As part of the deal, Moroccan institutions will provide training opportunities for Nigerien pilots, while both countries will work to expand the presence of their national airlines.
On the sidelines of the ICAO assembly, Morocco engaged in bilateral meetings with international officials to promote further cooperation and its candidacy for the ICAO Council.
In addition, Marrakech is set to host the 5th ICAO Global Implementation Support Symposium next year, showcasing Moroccan expertise in the aviation sector.
