Two notorious Nigerian drug kingpins have been convicted and sentenced to a combined 10 years in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos, following major operations by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Ajetsibo Emami, a 37-year-old man, widely known as “Warri Kinsman,” was arrested in Ikeja, Lagos on June 28, 2025, after a three-day NDLEA operation dismantled his drug trafficking network. Recovered from his syndicate were 24 jumbo bags containing 681 pouches of Canadian Loud cannabis, weighing 414.2 kilograms. Intelligence had revealed his attempt to move the shipment to Lekki, Lagos, for wider distribution across the country.
Emami was arraigned before Justice Deinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court 8 in Lagos under case number FHC/L/636C/2025. On August 18, 2025, he was convicted of one count of dealing in illicit drugs and sentenced to six years imprisonment, with an option of a ₦50 million fine.
In a separate case, 51-year-old Solomon Akpomuai was first intercepted by Customs officers on June 3, 2025, along the Shagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway with 2,197.8 kilograms of skunk cannabis. He was later transferred to NDLEA custody on June 16. Tried under case number FHC/L/635C/2025, Justice Dipeolu convicted him for trafficking large quantities of illicit drugs and sentenced him to four years imprisonment, with an option of a ₦50 million fine.
NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), welcomed the convictions as a sign that Nigeria is making measurable progress in its fight against substance abuse and drug trafficking.
