Nigerian Army Eliminates Boko Haram Deputy Leader in Sambisa Night Raid

Nigerian Army troops under Operation Hadin Kai have killed Abu Khalid, identified as Boko Haram’s second-in-command, during a nighttime military operation in the Sambisa Forest, Borno State, in northeastern Nigeria.

The operation was carried out around 11 p.m. in the Komala area of Konduga Local Government Area, where ten additional fighters from the armed group were also neutralized. Military sources say Abu Khalid was a key figure responsible for coordinating Boko Haram’s operational and logistical activities along the Sambisa axis, marking the operation as a significant blow to the group’s command structure.

The raid came less than 24 hours after Nigerian forces eliminated another senior Boko Haram/ISWAP commander, Julaibib, during an operation on the Gujba axis within the Timbuktu Triangle.

Conducted by Sector 1 troops with support from the Civilian Joint Task Force under Operation Desert SANITY, the mission led to the recovery of five AK-47 rifles, ammunition magazines, bicycles, and various logistical, food, and medical supplies.

No casualties were recorded among government forces, while the military confirmed that ongoing sweep and demining operations continue across Sambisa Forest, the Mandara Mountains, the Timbuktu Triangle, and other identified militant strongholds in the Northeast.
