Nigerian President Bola Tinubu held a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron during his recent visit to France, where both leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties to promote prosperity and global stability.
The engagement marked Tinubu’s second visit to France in six months, following a short working trip in April 2025.
Before this visit, the president had also embarked on a two-week tour of Japan and Brazil, attending the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Yokohama and holding bilateral talks with Japanese and Brazilian leaders, as well as major investors.
Following these engagements, the Presidency announced that Tinubu began his 2025 annual leave on September 4, which will last 10 working days.
He is expected to spend the vacation between France and the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria.
His Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, clarified that the trip is strictly for vacation and work-related assessments, dismissing rumors of medical treatment abroad.
