The Senegalese government has signed a new partnership agreement with Germany to support the sustainable transformation of its financial sector, joining the regional initiative already active in Ghana, Gambia, and Sierra Leone.
The agreement was signed between the Deutsche Sparkassenstiftung für internationale Kooperation (DSIK) and Senegal’s Directorate of Microfinance and Financial Inclusion (DMIF), during a ceremony held in Dakar with the presence of the German Embassy and officials from the Senegalese Ministry of Microfinance.
This partnership marks a significant step toward building a more inclusive and resilient financial system, with a focus on empowering women and youth economically.
In the initial phase, both parties will define priority areas of intervention aligned with Senegal’s evolving microfinance legal and strategic frameworks.
The collaboration is expected to enhance financial inclusion for vulnerable groups and promote local economic development by supporting financial institutions and community-based financing models.
