Senegalese Government Warns Citizens About Tougher U.S. Immigration Measures

Senegal’s government has issued a warning to its citizens regarding the tightening of U.S. immigration policies, urging strict compliance with visa and residency regulations.

In a statement released Saturday, the Ministry of African Integration and Foreign Affairs (MIAAE) highlighted that the United States has adopted new criminal and administrative sanctions targeting individuals attempting to enter the country illegally.

These include stricter border controls and entry bans for those with prior offenses or criminal records.

The U.S. has also introduced a voluntary return mechanism via the “CBP Home Mobile” app, allowing undocumented migrants to return home with financial support and reduced risk of prosecution.

The MIAAE urged Senegalese nationals to ensure they travel with valid visas, respect permitted stay durations, and seek accurate information from diplomatic missions before travel.

Senegalese consular offices in the U.S. are continuing awareness campaigns in coordination with American authorities. While Senegal is not on the list of 12 countries whose citizens were recently banned from entering the U.S. following a security incident in Colorado, the government emphasized vigilance and legal compliance for all travelers.
