Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has reshuffled his cabinet, resulting in the departure of three ministers and the appointment of new figures from the legal, diplomatic, parliamentary, and political ranks.
Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko retains his position, while Interior Minister Jean-Baptiste Tine and Justice Minister Ousmane Diagne have been replaced by lawyer Bamba Cissé and Yassine Fall respectively.
Fall, previously at Foreign Affairs, has been succeeded in that role by diplomat Cheikh Niang. Other changes include Elhadj Abdourahmane Diouf’s move from Higher Education to the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Transition.
The reshuffle also introduced Déthié Fall as Minister of Infrastructure and former National Assembly vice-president Amadou Bâ as Minister of Culture, Crafts and Tourism, replacing Mountaga Diao.
Several ministers maintained their portfolios, including Birame Soulèye Diop (Energy, Oil and Mines), Birame Diop (Armed Forces), Cheikh Diba (Finance and Budget), Moustapha Guirassy (National Education), Ibrahima Sy (Health), and Maïmouna Dièye (Family and Social Action).
Others retaining posts are Balla Moussa Fofana (Urban Planning), Serigne Gueye Diop (Industry and Commerce), Fatou Diouf (Fisheries), Olivier Boucal (Civil Service), Khadiadiatou Diène Ndiaye (Youth and Sports), and Alioune Dionne (Microfinance).
