World Bank Approves $135M for Senegal’s Health System Under NAATANGUE 2030

The World Bank Group has approved $135 million in financing for Senegal to strengthen its health system and improve access to care for vulnerable populations under the “NAATANGUE 2030” program.

The package includes a $100 million credit from the International Development Association, along with $20 million from the Global Financing Facility and $15 million from the Health Systems Transformation and Resilience Trust Fund.

The program aims to improve care for women, children, and adolescents by expanding access to emergency obstetric and neonatal services, strengthening screening, and ensuring continuity of care.

It also seeks to extend health insurance coverage, improve access to essential medicines, deploy more health workers to underserved areas, and enhance the use of health data.

According to Djibrilla Issa, the initiative will help build a more equitable and resilient health system, using a results-based financing approach to sustainably improve service quality and preparedness for future health challenges.
