Lawmakers in Togo have adopted four bills in the National Assembly after their approval in identical terms by the Senate, marking the final stage of the legislative process under the country’s bicameral system.
The laws cover key areas including environmental regulation, the transfer of youth enterprise support programs (FAIEJ) to the SME development agency (ADTPME), microfinance regulation, and the repression of counterfeiting within the West African Monetary Union (UMOA).
The plenary session was chaired by Komi Selom Klassou and attended by government officials including Gilbert Bawara and Essowè Georges Barcola, who commended the work of parliamentarians.
With no amendments introduced by the Senate, the bills were adopted without further debate and are now set for promulgation and publication, paving the way for their entry into force.
